Return of Vocal Workshops!

Please register your interest if you would like to be involved in the 2011 workshops.

2010 memory....

"My second vocal workshop at the Austrian Club (Mawson, ACT) on Sunday, May 9th was a great success. We had 8 attendees, including some of my own singing students.

The workshop was about establishing a connection with the voice, with the accompanist(s) and with the audience. I taught them about exposing themselves emotionally, and setting up a voyeuristic experience for the audience.

The lesson was accompanied by exercises to improve eye contact, break down barriers and let go of inhibitions. We had some great successes, profound personal growth moments, even an epiphany or two!

By the end of the evening, the group had begun to look deeply into their personalities, with one young student finally ‘owning’ her own skin. Some began to let go of the things that were holding them back, while others shed their 'tough' facades and let their vulnerabilities show instead. I felt that we all got to know each other a little better.

Needless to add, this sort of honest expression brought forth a very truthful, well-connected sound, and we got to really see some amazing personalities. These moments of revelation are the most rewarding for me as a teacher, and I can't wait until my next workshop on the 6th of June. Until then!"
